Myofascial Release (MFR)
Myofascial Release is a hands-on technique that provides sustained pressure into myofascial restrictions to eliminate pain and restore motion. Myofascial Release requires a complete understanding of the fascial system.
Fascia is the densely woven connective tissue which is spread from a horse’s head to hoof without interruption in a three-dimensional pattern. It covers every muscle, bone, nerve, artery and vein as well as all of the internal organs including the heart, lungs, brain and spinal cord.
Fascia also plays an important role in the support of our bodies, since it surrounds and attaches to all structures. These structures would not be able to provide the stability without the constant pull In the normal healthy state, the fascia is relaxed and can stretch and move. When a horse is injured or stressed, the fascia loses its flexibility, becoming tight and tense.
With Myofascial Release, Soft Nickers one-on-one, hands-on treatments enhance a horse’s strength, flexibility and movement.
